You can see from the photo’s that you can have a lot of fun being a Leader, even though it is hard work at times. All the Leaders find it very rewarding to see the younger members enjoying themselves and trying out new activities.
If you would like to become a Leader, or would like to help out occasionally, you need to be 18 years old or over. You will be required to fill in a Criminal Record Bureau Form (CRB), and have clearance, before you can start helping at a Section. All training is provided.
Two of the Leaders took part in this years Cotswold Marathon, along with one of the Explorers and two German Scouts Leaders from Stockstadt am Main. They completed the Gold Route in 11 hours 41 minutes, coming third overall. Nine of our other Leaders manned checkpoint 11 (Edgeworth) during the night, providing refreshments, encouragement and looking after those who couldn’t make the distance until they were picked up. Also well done to the Leader who also stayed up all night to welcome each of the teams back to Murray Hall.
The Leaders within our Group work very hard in providing balanced and fun meetings and activities for all the Sections in the Group. They are also willing to help out with the other sections if extra help is needed. Many of the Leaders are also involved in the running and instructing of the Group’s Marching Band.
