2010 Cotswold Marathon

Explorer Scouts are for young people from the age of 14 to 18. They can also be Young Leaders and help out with other sections.

 

Their uniform is a Brown shirt, navy trousers and our Group Kneckerchief.

 

The unit attached to our Group meet every fortnight.  To find out when the next meeting is, take a look at the diary dates.

 

This month they are off on their Spring Camp to Buckstone Adventure Centre.  Also during March they are increasing their mapping and compass skills with a training day near the Malverns.

 

Five of the Explorers entered this years Cotswold Marathon.  Four of them are won the Silver Route (18 miles) in a time of 5 hours 29 minutes. Another of the Explorers  entered the Gold Route (36 miles) for the first time and came third in a time of 11 hours 41 minutes.

 

Last year the Explorers took part in lots of different activities including, Dragon Boating at South Cerney, Lasar Tag a Ghost Walk around Gloucester, which some of them became a little scared when they were jumped out on, Summer Camp at Tolmers during August, a Hawaiian Party, Bell Boat racing, played pitch and putt, helped at the District Cubs Sixer’s and Seconder’s, Bouldering, and 10 Pin Bowling.

The Section for 18 to 25 years olds is known as Scout Network. They can also be Leaders within the Group.  Both of these sections replace Venture Scouting.
